Weare is a town situated in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. With an area of approximately 57 square miles and a population of 9,092 as of the 2020 census, it sits between and just west of the cities of Manchester and Concord. Originally granted to veterans of the Canadian war, it became home to its first settler in 1750. Historically speaking, it may be most well-known for the Pine Tree Riot of 1772, where residents, already suffering the effects of deforestation, rebelled against the illegal cutting of white pines for the benefit of England’s Royal Navy. Among its notable residents was the US Supreme Court Justice David Souter.
